How to find all the mayor's lost animals?

So when the mayor's lost animal quest came out, I ignored it because the value of the animals is so low and the total prize wasn't worth it.

However, now that you need to complete a lost animal quest in order to get the perfume bottle to get the ballroom, I need my memory refreshed. I looked in our guides section and couldn't find the answers to the following questions. Anyone know?

How many animals does the mayor "lose" for us to find per day?
Does finding all the animals happen in a single day or over the course of a few days?

Why don't I seem to be able to "find" more than 3 in a day ever? Do they hide anywhere else other than outside with the shops or in the neighborhoods? I literally had my pet walk over every square inch of the outside neighborhoods and only found 2! Am I doing something wrong?

seems to be very hard for me at first, but bcoz i wanted to have this free room i find the lost animal more easier by going back home, everytime i found one i have to go back home and go out again to find another one, its easy to find the animals it will be near around the town..just have patience

I use the same trick Chay does. Go to the neighbourhood, find one animal, go back home and repeat. It's easier this way, because most times you will find one animal close to the main buildings and you'll finish the search faster

It was all hard for me to find them, but Lucky I figured out it is ONLy in the city not really far of my house and THat one animal is visible in the town and when you find a new one appears somewhere in the city.

yeah but it isn't that hard and i use little trick LOL well i am to bored to walk all around the town soo i just enter one shop and then i go out and then again and again and in that case you can find animals very fast cause they are almost always near the shops xD

Yeah,thats what I do and when I go outside there's always an animal =P
